You Need a Traffic Strategy When Promoting Your Online Business

promoting your online business

Over the last few days I’ve been developing a traffic strategy to promote my online business.

The main problem I have had over the past couple of years was driving consistent traffic to an offer. I had follow-up emails to send to people who joined my list. I had a business to promote. But the traffic was inconsistent.

There were several reasons why my traffic wasn’t consistent.

The first reason was not having a specific plan for driving traffic to my lead capture page every single week. I would by a 200 click solo ad one week and then go weeks before I bought anymore clicks.

Not only that, but I would go to different solo ad sellers and sporadically order 200, 500, even 1,000 click solo ads until I ran out of money.

Since I was new at buying traffic, I didn’t realize that 99% of the time I would not make a sale the first time someone saw the business video sales letter. I had to follow up with them via email so they could get to know me and be exposed to the offer several times.

About half the time, especially with my first solos, I was using the company’s lead capture page which was used by thousands of others like me who didn’t know any better. So people who joined my list had probably seen the same capture page dozens of times already.

The second reason why my traffic was inconsistent was because I had some serious health issues the past two years.

I had 5 major surgeries over that time period. But 3 of them were related to the complications I had in one of my surgeries. I was in the hospital for 3 ½ weeks with a wound vac attached to my stomach.

Then I had 9 weeks of recovery (and being very weak due to low blood pressure) before I had to go back to work. My final surgery was in August of 2016.

I’m all better now, but those 2 years were a very harrowing experience for me. So unfortunately, I didn’t have the energy and the money to work my part -time business consistently.

When I was back to working my business, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t in the “promoting an opportunity” business. I was supposed to be in the “building my list” business.

It didn’t really matter what business opportunity I was in. What mattered was building a list of leads who would get to know, like and trust me enough to sign up in whatever I was promoting.

Building your email list with leads is the main reason for buying traffic. The more leads you have on your list, the more opportunities for sales to happen.

Sales will start to come in sporadically at first, but at some point, you’ll build up momentum, especially when you start to scale your traffic and buy more and more of it.

So now I have created a specific traffic plan where I am buying traffic every single week to build my email list.

I’m also creating YouTube videos, posting on Facebook, Twitter and writing blog posts in order to grow my public profile and generate free traffic from people visiting my lead capture page from social media sites.

I’m just gonna keep working this plan over and over and over again. At some point, I’ll be able to scale my traffic up and buy even more of it.

This is how I will grow my business.
